China Toy Expo (CTE)2020 Wrapped Up with Great Success

2020-11-6 CTJPA

As Asia’s largest trade fair for toys and baby products - the 19th China Toy Expo closed its three-day run at Shanghai New International Expo Center on Oct.21-23.

This year, CTE came with a series of remarkable highlights, which brought visitors a fresh experience.

Active Participation of Internationally Renowned Brands
With nearly 20 years of development, CTE has become the preferred platform for leading foreign brands to tap into the China market and even Asia. This year, the Covid-19 pandemic didn’t preclude the participation of international brands. Many returning big brands, such as LEGO, HAPE, TY, MGA, ZURU, PLAYMOBIL, BAIDAI, EPOCH, GUND, Vtech, SMART GAMES, DJECO, HABA etc choose CTE as the only tradeshow to join in Asia. Moreover, famous Japanese brands TAKARA TOMY, Animal Life, British brand Jelly Cat and American brand Tonka exhibited at CTE for the first time.

Major Domestic Production Regions under One Roof
As an important promotion platform for the construction of industrial clusters, regional economy and industrial development, CTE is highly recognized by the local governments and associations of 20 major domestic production regions across China, including Chenghai, Dongguan, Shenzhen (Guangdong Province), Yunhe, Yongjia, Ningbo (Zhejiang Province), Qingdao, Linyi (Shandong Province), Baoying (Jiangsu Province), Quanzhou, Jinjiang (Fujian Province), Ankang (Shaanxi Province), Baigou (Hebei Province), etc. Leading manufacturers from these production hubs showcased their latest products and technology at CTE. Among them, the exhibition scale of the Guangdong Chenghai Pavilion has increased by nearly 1,000 square meters.

Comprehensive Categories of New Products on Display
Different from other regional toy fairs, CTE brings together comprehensive product categories and group them into over ten featured display areas. This year, in addition to the optimized featured areas of educational games, electronic & RC toys, infant toys, wooden & bamboo toys, soft toys & dolls, outdoor & sports items, festive & party supplies, and board games, CTE also closely follows the latest trends to launch the model and trendy toy featured area, cross-border e-commerce pavilion, and DIY featured area for the first time, showcasing new products of the best-selling categories.

Overall Reflection of Toy Industry Development Trends

In terms of toy R&D and production, the obvious trend is combing toys with education, culture and IP licensing, which can be seen at this year’s show.  As to distribution channel development, toy companies are accelerating the deployment of new models, such as stimulating purchase desire through short videos and livestreaming marketing. At the same time, CTJPA has enhanced online services this year by launching the upgraded "365 Online Exhibition Platform” for domestic market, and the "Certified Supplier Online Platform" targeting foreign markets. In addition, the CTJPA Elite Academy Cloud Classroom opened for the first time. These new moves and initiatives are aimed at empowering companies in relevant industries to conquer difficulties, create new opportunities and make breakthroughs in the midst of changes.

Inspiring Forums & Events Bringing in New Opportunities
Currently, with traditional export trade encountering lots of barriers, cross-border e-commerce is growing rapidly against the trend.  Under such circumstances, CTJPA joined hands with leading cross-border e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, LAZADA, AliExpress, MercadoLibre, NewEgg, Vova, Joom, etc., to launch " 2020 Children’s Industry Cross-border E-commerce Forum and Toys, Maternal & Children’s Products Selection Event". The event focused on new cross-border e-commerce business practices under the normalization of epidemic control, discussed new cross-border opportunities under the crisis, and brought together more than 100 quality manufacturers with their latest products to boost the healthy development of the cross-border e-commerce ecosystem.

As the annual global toy industry trend-leading event, CTE is more than just a trade fair. To unveil the industry trends, various special displays such as “Global Trends in China 20201”, “CTJPA Industry Upgrading and Innovative Products Display”, and “New Design Forces” were held during the exhibition. These theme activities are aimed at promoting industry transformation, educating companies to develop product added value so as to lead the future development rend of the industry.

Besides, due to the international travel restrictions for pandemic control, it’s difficult for international visitors to make it to the on-site show. Considering this situation, CTE launched livestreaming on Facebook page for the first time allowing international toy industry professionals to join the fair and explore new products without traveling.

As the flagship tradeshows in Asia, the concurrent China Toy Expo, China Kids Expo, China Preschool Expo and China Licensing Expo, organized by China Toy & Juvenile Products Association, not only contributed to promoting the full recovery of the relevant industries but also accelerated the establishment of a "dual circulation" development pattern. The four shows also fostered new competitive advantages for relevant industries and served as the benchmark of new trends.

The 20th China Toy Expo will take place during Oct.19-21, 2021. We will continue striving for upgrading and optimization to make CTE a better bridge between exhibitors and trade visitors. More information for next year’s fair will be released in the coming days.
