Asmodee launches Asmodee Korea as it eyes region for next stage of growth
Asmodee has officially detailed the opening of a new branch to serve the South Korean market, with the launch of Asmodee Korea Limited. The new branch will be led by industry veteran Kevin Kichan Kim.
The move is the latest in Amsodee’s ongoing international growth plans and has been opened with the aim of reinforcing the board game giant’s leading position in the Korean market.
“Korea is one of Asmodee’s most important markets, and is a key milestone in the company’s international development in Asia,” said Frederic Nugeron, regional manager Asia of Asmodee Group.
In the past five years, Korea’s toy market has doubled in size, from €630 million to an estimated €1 billion, and it is expected to double again in the next five years. Asmodee brands have seen explosive growth in Korea, with Splendor, Spot It, CATAN and Dixit being among the most popular board games in the country.
“The Korean market has been growing remarkably in the last 10 years, and we’re very excited to introduce even more fantastic game experiences to fans in the region,” said Kim. “A dedicated team on the ground will reinforce Asmodee’s leading market position and allow us to quickly scale our presence in the country through localization of distribution of the entire Asmodee catalog.”
Kevin Kichan Kim has led a successful career in the Korean board game industry, having worked at Korea Boardgames, Happy Baboab and Mandoo Games. His experience and in-depth knowledge will allow Asmodee to meet high consumer and business demand for Asmodee games locally.
