HASBRO PLAYING WITH PURPOSE ESG REPORT GOES OVER PLANET, PLAY, PEOPLE, AND PRINCIPLES

2022-12-30 CTE

Like many modern toy companies, Hasbro has committed in part to focusing on environmental and social policy within its company. The company’s latest environmental, social, and governance (ESG) progress report, Playing with Purpose, details advancement and plans from Hasbro across four areas: planet, play, people, and principles.

Hasbro recently conducted ESG materiality mapping in order to prepare the report. The company requested stakeholder and employee surveys, held a leadership workshop to discuss issues, and utilized an independent consultant to examine changes since its last 2017 ESG report.

Regarding the planet, Hasbro is attempting to reach the overall goal of sustainability. The company began measuring its greenhouse gas emissions decades ago, and hopes to decrease to net zero emissions by 2050. Additional initiatives that have been explored include a program to recycle Magic the Gathering booster pack wrapping and a line of sustainable toys from Playskool. Hasbro also devoted a section of the report to climate risk and resilience, focusing on how climate change could affect the business and how the company will remain profitable and functioning with these upcoming challenges.
